On July 5th, 2024, PSJKM had the distinct honor of being invited by the Associated Country Women of the World (ACWW) of Pahang to represent Malaysia’s rich artistic heritage at an exclusive Art and Craft Session held at ACWW Pekan, Pahang. This prestigious event was organized to welcome and showcase local arts to the honorable guests, including the former World ACWW President, Mdm Ruth Shanks, and Mdm Barbara Brown. We were further privileged by the presence of the Queen of Pahang, Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah Binti Almarhum Al-Mutawakkil Alallah Sultan Iskandar Al-Haj.

PSJKM proudly brought along members of the Orang Asli community from Kg. Gumum, Tasik Chini, who had previously participated in our Eco-Print and Natural Dye program. Their commitment to the craft and the skills they developed since the conclusion of the June session made them ideal representatives for this occasion.

During the session, our Orang Asli members displayed an exceptional level of craftsmanship, guiding and demonstrating their skills to our distinguished guests. Their performances were a testament to the high standard of training they received and their dedication to preserving and promoting their cultural heritage through art.

This session not only highlighted the talents of our participants but also served as a significant platform to reinforce the importance of sustainable practices in traditional crafts. The interaction between the participants and the esteemed guests underscored the value of cultural exchange and the vital role of indigenous communities in preserving Malaysia’s artistic traditions.
