A Meaningful Start to the Sew and Save Program (Upcycle)

PSJKM launched the first session of its Sew and Save program with the impactful Eco-Prosperity Pouch Event on 18-19 January 2025. This event aimed to bring participants closer to the concept of upcycle and highlight the importance of sustainable practices.

The event started with a guided gallery tour, showcasing innovative upcycling ideas and demonstrating the potential of discarded materials. Participants then attended a short presentation that detailed the program’s objectives and its environmental and social impact. This engaging session emphasized the need for collective action to tackle textile waste.

Hands-On Workshop: Creating the Eco-Prosperity Pouch

The highlight of the event was a hands-on workshop supported by our partner, Epal Craft Training Centre. Guided by skilled sewing tutors, participants learned to craft their very own Eco-Prosperity Pouch from upcycled materials. The workshop demonstrated how old and unused items could transform into functional and beautiful creations with a little creativity and effort.

Participants expressed immense satisfaction as they completed their pouches. The smiles and enthusiasm during the workshop reflected the success of this initiative. Everyone left the session with their Eco-Prosperity Pouch and a renewed commitment to upcycling.
