Empowering Communities Through Skill Development in Kuching

From 3rd to 9th July 2023, PSJKM partnered with KPKT (Ministry of Local Government Development) to conduct a life-changing program in Kuching. This initiative focused on empowerment by providing 30 participants from the B40 and E-Kasih communities with skills in sewing and eco-printing using natural dyes.

Tools and Support for Sustainable Empowerment

The program didn’t stop at teaching skills—it provided participants with essential resources. Each individual received sewing machines, eco-printing materials, and natural dye supplies to kick-start their businesses. This comprehensive approach ensured that participants were empowered to generate sustainable income. To further their empowerment, PSJKM extended a six-month mentorship program, guiding participants to achieve the goals set by the funders.

Celebrating Empowerment with Government and Corporate Partners

The program’s finale on 9th July 2023 brought together key figures from government agencies and corporate partners to celebrate the participants’ progress. Notable attendees, including YB Chong Chieng Jen and Dato Sabariah, commended the initiative and its success in fostering empowerment. Their participation highlighted the importance of collaborations in uplifting communities and creating lasting impacts.
