Sustaining Empowerment: PSJKM and KPKT Continue Their Mission in Kuching
From end of February to early March 2024, PSJKM once again collaborated with KPKT (Ministry of Local Government Development) to bring empowerment to 30 participants from the B40 and E-Kasih communities. This second phase in Kuching builds on the success of the previous program in 2023, which achieved remarkable results in improving participants’ livelihoods.
Proven Success in Previous Event
In 2023, PSJKM empowered participants by teaching sewing and eco-printing with natural dyes while providing tools, materials, and mentoring. The program’s structured approach resulted in over 80% of participants achieving an income of more than RM700 per month, surpassing expectations. This success motivated KPKT to support another batch of participants, aiming to replicate and expand the impact of the initiative.
Tools and Mentorship for Sustainable Impact
Participants in the 2024 program received the same comprehensive support as the previous batch. PSJKM provided sewing machines, natural dye materials, and eco-printing supplies to ensure sustainable business opportunities. A six-month mentorship program will also guide participants, ensuring they stay on track to achieve their income goals and remain self-sufficient.
Collaboration for Sustained Impact
KPKT continues to recognize PSJKM’s commitment to empowerment and the tangible outcomes of these initiatives. Together, they are paving the way for sustainable income generation and improved livelihoods for the B40 and E-Kasih communities.
